The Peruvian flag has three vertical bands. The outer bands are red, and the center one is white. In the state version of the flag, the national coat of arms—featuring a shield with a llama, a chichona tree, and a yellow cornucopia filled with coins—is present in the center. The red stripes recall the fight for independence, while the white band stands for peace.
