The flag of the Marshall Islands features a blue field with two diagonal stripes of orange and white radiating from the bottom hoist-side corner. Above the stripes is a large white star with four large rays and 20 smaller rays. The blue field symbolizes the Pacific Ocean, which surrounds the islands. The two stripes represent the two main island chains of Ratak (sunrise) and Ralik (sunset). The orange color signifies courage, while the white stands for peace. The 24 points of the star represent the electoral districts of the country.
